Premium Pressure Sensitive Adhesive
Description
ES800 Premium Pressure Sensitive Adhesive is formulated to install luxury vinyl tile (LVT), luxury vinyl plank (LVP), carpet tile, fiberglass backed sheet and sheet vinyl flooring. ES800 provides a high strength, water resistant bond while protecting against bacteria growth with Meta-Sept ® Antimicrobial. ES800 is a VOC compliant adhesive certified by CRI’s Green Label Plus, RFCI’s FloorScore® and UL GREENGUARD.
Approved Substrates
Use on concrete that is on, above or below grade in the absence of excessive moisture and alkalinity, underlayment grade OSB, cut back residue when reduced to a fine film, APA registered underlayment plywood, Gypsum or light weight concrete primed with ES225 Premium Primer, radiant heated subfloors less than 85°F (29° C), non-cushion backed sheet vinyl, VCT, terrazzo with wakes and polishes removed.
Substrate Preparation
Floor must be structurally sound, clean, flat and dry. Remove all foreign substances such as existing adhesives, wax, grease, dirt, concrete curing compounds and any other substance that would interfere with a good bond. Fill all holes and cracks with Portland based cement compounds and sand high spots. For LVT/LVP and carpet tile flooring moisture emissions, according to ASTM F-1869 Anhydrous Calcium chloride test method should not exceed 8 lbs./1000 sq. ft./24 hrs. (3.6kg/93sq. m/24 hrs.) and ASTM F 2170 test method should not exceed 90% RH or less. If both tests are performed, the RH test is the qualifying standard. For fiberglass backed sheet and sheet vinyl flooring, moisture emissions according to ASTM F-1869 Anhydrous Calcium chloride test method should not exceed 5 lbs./1000 sq. ft./24 hrs. (3.6 kg/93 sq. m/24 hrs.) and ASTM F 2170 test method should not exceed 85% or less. If both tests are performed, the RH test is the qualifying standard. The pH must be between 5-9. Corrective action must be taken if below 5 or above 9.
Instructions
1. Prepare the substrate in accordance with the substrate preparation instructions above.
2. Acclimate the adhesive substrate and floor covering at a temperature of 65°F-95°F (18°C-35°C) and relative humidity (RH) of 30-60% for 72 hours before, during and after the installation.
3. Apply ES800 with the recommended tool to the approved substrate.
4. Lay flooring into adhesive; wet for a permanent bond on porous substrates and dry-to-the touch for non-porous substrates and removable pressure sensitive bond on all substrates. When installing sheet vinyl, the adhesive must be back rolled after troweling to smooth out trowel ridges.
5. Complete the job by rolling the floor with a 75 lbs. roller. Work from the center towards the edges to expel trapped air and ensure 100% contact with the adhesive. Check flooring once again after 2 hours and roll again if necessary. Light traffic only for 24 hours and heavy traffic and/or rolling loads for a minimum of 48 hours. Do not wet mop the floor for 72 hours after completed installation.
Note:
It is the sole responsibility of the contractor/installer to determine the proper porosity of the subfloor, apply the proper amount of adhesive and ensure that all instructions, procedures, and practices are strictly adhered to.
Cleanup
When dry, use appropriate solvent cleaner such as denatured alcohol or mineral spirits compatible with flooring manufacturer’s requirements.

*Trowel dimensions are width x depth x spacing. Coverage is approximate and may vary depending on porosity of substrate and the angle at which the trowel is held. IT IS THE INSTALLER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO APPLY THE PROPER AMOUNT OF ADHESIVE FOR THE JOB CONDITION.
Recommended Tools
When installing homogeneous sheet vinyl, it is recommended to trowel the adhesive, then back roll with a short-nap paint roller to minimize the possibility of trowel ridge telegraphing.
